A Climate of Change:
African Americans
and Global Warming

The Environmental Justice and Climate Change Initiative and Redefining Progress have released a new report finding that, while climate change is an urgent problem that hurts everyone, it is especially harmful to African Americans and low-income people of color.

In the report, we analyze leading policy solutions and finds that the policies most beneficial to African Americans also best serve the U.S. economy and the environment as a whole, with the result that climate change can be an opportunity for justice.

The Bottom Line

In WorldWatch Institute's well-respected State of the World 2008, John Talberth, the director of RP's Sustainability Indicators program, contributes a report that explores alternatives to the GDP. These alternatives, such as the Genuine Progress Indicator, are a more true measure of progress and innovation.
